I am a hiker. I pack out for days at a time. I have a survival mentality.

Having said that, I can recommend some good survival techniques for a long day.
Water - should go without saying. Bring plenty. I would not worry about bring that much on hte bus. Water can be gotten at any Food mart and we will have some next to the hotel.

Go to Dick's or REI and pick up some hiker's energy bars. They are packed with energy and truly filling. I have lived on nothing but them for days on end and did absolutely great. Put 4 or 5 in your day pack and you will be safe.

Extra pair of sock in your day pack. Nothing feels better mid-day than a fresh pair of socks.

Collapsible umbrella - Has three purposes. First to shield you from the rain, if that happens, Second to do the same from the blaring sun and finally, it can be used for a defensive weapon if the need arises.

Fold up seats are great but you must lug them around Again, hikers have little ground seats that (are not cheap) but fold so small. You can sit on the ground and get back support.

I know everyone will have a cell phone but don’t forget a spare battery or extra-source of charging power. I have a little hand-crank charger that doubles as a flashlight.

Keep cameras small. You will not want carry more than 10 pounds. It will be a long day.

Sun glasses and a small vial of sun-screen.

Light jacket It is getting later in the year and we may haev a little cooler weather than expected. I have a wind-breaker that zips into a pouch that I can put in my pocket.

Some cold cash in small bills. I went to a rally in Atlanta and did not have much cash. The vendors did not take credit.

Hello All,
Logan and I will bring plenty of brownies for a snack. I'm sure we'll work off those extra calories Saturday!
If anyone is interested in passing some of the miles with an audiobook & ipod, please let me know
well before we meet Wednesday at Hudson's Grill. I'll be glad to share my selection of current titles,
such as Michelle Malkin, Mark Levin, etc.

So, wait...let me get this straight - we are doing brown bag lunches on the bus individually right? Dinner too?

How is this working?

We are READY TO GO TODAY! hahaha

Springer, that was awesome advice.

You can find the little ground chairs at REI or Bass Pro shops (I think). We are going to bring ours. They are like stadium seats, but all fabric. they let you sit on the ground and support your back from the weight of you sitting on the bottom part.

Another question - are there not going to be places to buy water? Are we going to have to bring a small cooler and lug it around during the march, and at the rally, etc. ?

Also, remember if you need to use your fists for anything, keep your fingers tightly coiled up. ;)

Just a heads up, there will be plenty of water, at least 10 cases have been purchased for each bus and bring a lunch finger food to share with five others, just for fun, there will be plenty that way :) I will also have my own little cooler , hehe
