If you have not read this, you better do so quickly - before it ceases to be fiction!

I want to meet this author. Find out who wrote this. Did someone dig Ayn Rand up and put a pen in her hand?

Why this is not a documentary, I don't know. This is one of the most powerful reads I have come across in a long time. I am jealous, I did not write it.

Thanks Springer. I'm reading it now...

OK, here's the thing - that is entirely too long. I mean, people who care about it - that is, those of us awake already will probably read it, but even I didn't get through it all. It's a book. I need Cliff notes - or I would, if I didn't know where it was going....

#2 - the guy's wife is IMHO a typical "sleeper"

#3 - that story is a prime example for NEVER giving up your arms.

I'm just not that much of a reader, and the minute details of someone's breakfast or how icy cold it was make me want to skip to the end. :) I didn't though, since I can imagine how it goes already.

If there is a surprise ending ( Like the government figures it out, fixes it and restores the Constitutional rights of Americans, let me know. :) )

I see where the guy is coming from, and it's a pretty good description - but I don't know why it was written that way - so long and detailed...the sleepers aren't going to read that. Idol might be on tv. :(

Keep your rifle in one hand while you are reading it. You will feel more in line with the story.

I'm about 1/3 into the story (haven't had much time to read it), It is really scary that the scenario could easily happen, and would probably play out similarly.

I had stop in the middle to check my stock of plywood, I'm good, but I need a nail gun (will probably get one of those remmington power hammers) to make it easier to board up my windows. I also decided that I'll soon be purchasing a shotgun and/or rifle to go w/ my PX4.

Hah!!! When James was boarding up his windows, I started thinking the very same thing. My folks lived in San Angelo, prone to hail and tornadoes. It is common to see people with hooks above all their windows and then they keep the plywood that is already made to hang on those hooks.

I like the idea of boarding from the inside. As they say in the story, it attracks less attention. I am trying to come up with a plan.

I did read that, along with boarding, you can place catalogs or phone books between the storm and inner windows to absorb gunshoot rounds. At least have one room very safe.

Something we could discuss at a meeting.

I finally got a chance to finish reading this story.

All I can say is that it is scary and too close to events that would probably occur if our financial system hit bottom. I definately need to work on food storage, a bugout destination, and place to secure weapons for if/when the shit hits the fan and they decide to try to take them away.

One excerpt from the story i'd like to share...

johngaltfla wrote:“Ms. Listels I presume?”, the voice on the phone said. “Yes, this is me,” Wendy replied in a very nervous voice, unsure who this was since the caller ID said “unidentified” in the display. “Why are you attempting to access an unauthorized website like Drudge via a government server?”, the man said on the other end of the line. Wendy was astonished so much she dropped her glass of wine, pouring a deep red burgundy into her deep pile carpeting as she screamed into the phone, “Who the hell is this? There‟s nothing illegal about what I am doing? What kind of people are you watching me?” The voice on the other end of the phone replied calmly, “Ma‟am, do you require a community counselor? We can have one there int he morning. There is no reason to access sites like this, they serve no function to benefit the employees of our great nation or the greater public good. Matt Drudge is a wanted man among many on the run, and when apprehended will be given full adjudication in one of our tribunals. Sites like that are simply propaganda for the people wishing to bring America to its knees and spread lies about the help the world is giving us.” Wendy gasped in horror and then she decided to go ahead
and chat with the mysterious voice, “You mean by visiting or reading sites like this, I am contributing to the rumored problems our government and banks are having?” The voice chuckled a bit and kept the pressure on by saying, “Ms. Listels, anyone who visits those sites or message boards that contributes to the instability in some communities is a traitor. We will have to deal with them harshly or our nation will fall. Please, if you know anyone else trying to find these individuals, their websites, or information detrimental to the Republic, dial 911 and give the information to your local operator immediately who will forward it to us.” Wendy was almost in tears by now and gave a sheepish reply, “Yes sir, I swear upon my job and my oath to the nation I will do what I must to save us. I will be at work in the morning sending an email about what else I find tonight. God Bless America sir and the fine work you are doing!”

if you haven't read this story yet you're missing out.

I should give a plug for the blog of the author of this story. JohnGaltFLA.com check it out when you have a chance. I find it interesting that he had the foresight to write this in November of 2009 only half a year after the coronation.

On another note... One thing that doesn't make much sense to me, well i understand the concept, but why when the financial system finally crashes, will gold still be worth a high price? I can see it being high right before the end (or once there is a recovery). I understand that there will always be those that have money to burn and may want gold, but if our system collapses what good will having gold do? Cash will be worthless, so who would be willing to trade gas, food, water, weapons, ammo, liquor (all the necessities) etc. for gold?

Thanks for the lead on the next book. I was searching for the next thing after "Liberal Fascism"

It is saved on the computer for the trip back to CA.
