I don't know if Brown will pull it off today. I am glued to the tube. But I can't help thinking that if he does, it could be a gift to the democrats. So what is driving my thinking? Answer :1994.
I bet people like Ben Nelson and Mary Landreu are breathing a sigh of relief, along with the less than hard left types. I think most knew that if health care legislation were to pass, it would be a suicide pact for the democrat party with congressmen from redish states to be the first to jump off the cliff. For all I know, Obama may be relieved. He has an excuse for not passing health care. It would makle him a three time looser but having health care pass might even be worse for him.
If Brown is elected, the Senate will be forced to work with the GOP. That means that the bills will have to be much more concervative and matched by spending cuts. In other words, we may end up with a government that starts to get out of the way of business and the economy grows. If the economy grows, Obama wins. He may say that his administration is all about Health care and Cap & Trade but America is grading him on the economy e.g. jobs. With a filabuster proof Senate and the strong message sent to the dems today, the GOP may become much bigger players at the table. And of course, there is November.
I expect the GOP will take at least one house in November - possibly both. Wall Street loves grid lock but prefers consevatives over liberals (except in 2008). A jamed up congress is a predictable congress. That is all Wall Street wants and needs - predictability.
I, for one, do not think Obama is in control of the Whitehouse. I think he is a puppet for George Soros, Andy Sterns and others. He may even be in deep with Arab nations. But if he has a renegade congress, he can use that as an excuse for not doing their bidding. I don't think Soros or Stern care if Obama fails in the long run as long as they get what they want in the short run. Obama is expendable!
