Ladies and Gentlemen,
I give you the Official Website of " ICE CREAM FOR AMERICA!" ( ICFA ) - please share it with everyone you know that might want to support AZ.
http://icfa.weebly.com/
I have the go-ahead to put the NG912 label on these events and I will be coordinating them. It's a fairly easy task since it's simply an ice-cream social at your nearest ColdStone Creamery, which is based in Arizona.
Here's how it came about....I was thinking about the latest left-wing boycott, and although I don't think it's going to have much success, I was reading alot of messages out there on teh interwebz where patriotic Americans were wanting a way to support the People of Arizona, and their tough stand on ILLEGAL immigration. Well, I got to thinking a little about it and I don't see why any private company should be targeted with a boycott over something that the government is doing, that they have no control over whatsoever.
So, it came to my attention ( by Springer maybe?) that ColdStone Creamery, which has quite a few locations all around metro Atlanta was based in AZ. So, I got on the phone...I called the Discover Mills location - they said it was fine with them. I called Dawsonville - the northernmost location in GA - and they guy said it was fine there too - but he wanted to give me the number to the person who was the owner of the Co-Op that owned EVERY SINGLE COLDSTONE CREAMERY IN ATLANTA!
Well, I looked up the person to get some background on him before calling him. I was VERY nervous, since I was not representing any particular group( although I told him I was involved with several). I had noticed in his LinkedIn profile that among the companies he was involved in ( a VERY successful guy it seems!) he did or does some work for The Village Voice.
Well, I can tell you that I almost didn't call and was ready to call it quits based on that. However, I remembered that I had just recently worked for a liberal, and doing something that I wouldn't normally do just to make a living - so I thought " well, he can only say no."
To make this a little shorter: I called. He said "win-win" and that was that! He asked that we do the events on Tuesday nights, since this is their slowest night and it would help them out. So, I am going to set it up for the second Tuesday of each month, for as long as it has support and people enjoy it and show up. Then, I got in touch with Mary about making it a NG912 thing and she said get moving! When Mary says to get moving - I already have my feet going for when they hit the ground!
So, I give you the plan for the Summer of Support for Arizona...( the name may change - any suggestions?)
What: ICE CREAM SOCIALS AT YOUR LOCAL COLDSTONE CREAMERY
When: THE THIRD TUESDAY OF EACH MONTH
Why: TO SUPPORT THE ECONOMY OF ARIZONA DURING THE PRO-ILLEGALS BOYCOTT
Time: 7:30 PM ( 2nd Tuesday each month! That gives you time for dinner out too, if you so choose)
RULES:
1. No signs, no meetings, no speakers, no chants, no arguments! It's an ice-cream social, not a Tea Party( although there's nothing wrong with a good 'ole Tea Party!!!!!
2. Please DO wear your Conservative/Patriotic T-Shirts!
3. Please DO purchase ice-cream and/or drinks to support the AZ economy and this AZ based business!
4. Please DO tell your friends, your FaceBook friends, your co-workers and anyone else who would like to come and eat ice-cream for a good cause!
5. Please DO TAKE PICTURES and/or VIDEO of your local events! Let us see the support out there!
6. Please DO have someone ( or everyone! ) in your group tell them why you are there! ColdStone in Atlanta is willing to work with us if this thing grows into a summer-long project and they need to staff accordingly for our visits!( If it's popular enough, we may make it twice a month! YUM!
1. Please DO NOT portray this event in any way( Facebook, in person, blogs) as a ColdStone sponsored event. ColdStone Creamery's in Atlanta have been nice enough to let us do this, but we do not expect them to take sides in a political debate for obvious reasons. They have not been hostile to the idea( not at all!) so as long as everyone can live with the conditions listed above that I have discussed with them, we should be able to really have a good time and support AZ while doing so!
2. Please DO NOT bring any racist or inflammatory items to these ice-cream socials. ( This goes without saying and is unnecessary probably, but as with everything these days - there may be those that would want to disrupt our efforts and try to deprive us of the ability to support AZ in this manner. While we cannot ask them to leave, we can get photos of them and let Coldstone know that they are NOT with us.) It's ice-cream. Hopefully the left will have better things to do than attack us for this, but you never know.
3. Please DO NOT ask them for discounts, etc. Again, they are letting us do this without endorsing it as an event, etc. and the purpose is to support AZ with our money, not get a deal on ice-cream because we have a group of 20 people.
I am hopeful that this idea will spread across the country, wherever there are Coldstone retail locations, OR into other businesses where people who are looking for a real, meaningful way to help counter the left's boycott of AZ products and businesses.
In closing, I will need a few folks that I can count on early in the "launch phase" to spread the word on as many websites and social networking sites as possible. This is a LOCAL grassroots thing, much like the tea party and 9-12 movement, and it will be necessary for people outside the metro Atlanta area to check with their local Coldstone's to make sure they are ok with this idea. For the most part, I think Coldstone, like many businesses these days will not turn down business no matter what shirts we wear! They DO however, want to know what's coming so that they can have enough people working to still provide the great service that the are known for!
So, who wants ice-cream?
